Collaborating with the next generation of creative teams is it’s own reward! What is even better is when that collaboration results in a stellar cast as it did with Marshall Pailet’s musical, “Triassic Parq” (triassicparq.com). What is Triassic Parq? Why, it’s a musical from the POV of a group of dinosaurs who are on a quest to unravel the mystery of their existence.
The Two Character Play
Not all casting takes place in the studio and if finding STARS is required, the process can take years…but when the Stars do align the results can be magical. Such was the case when Tony Award Winner Amanda Plummer and Oscar nominated Brad Dourif took to the stage to inhabit the fantastical world of Tennessee Williams’ “Two Character Play” at New World Stages.
Yllana’s 666- Funny as Hell
666 is a dark and twisted exploration of the inner workings of the criminal mind brought to life on stage by the acclaimed international theatre group Yllana (www.yllana.com). With NO script and a non English speaking cast, our challenge was to find an American cast to take over for the original company for a limited run at Minnetta Lane.
Philosophy For Gangsters
National Pastime
National Pastime is a new musical comedy that pays homage to the screwball comedies of the 1930s and 40s. Set during the Depression, National Pastime is the story of WZBQ, a struggling radio station in Baker City, Iowa.
The last time WZBQ had any ratings at all was when they broadcast the exploits of the Cougars, a minor league baseball team. But that team is long gone. In order to save their station and boost the ratings, WZBQ decides to invent the team all over again and broadcast their fictional games over the air. The plan works.
The numbers soar, the station starts to make money, and the entire town of Baker City is energized. Trouble comes when Life Magazine accidentally stumbles into Baker City and wants to do a story on the team. National Pastime is the hilarious and heartwarming story of the Baker City Cougars – the greatest team never to exist.
